5 25 megapixel polaroid digital camera Yup, KTC is headed to Seattle today to shoot video of Skeletonwitch as they record their new album. Stay tuned for more info! We’ll be back in two weeks with more killer videos! See ya then!
Since Japan’s grind kings UNHOLY GRAVE have a split 7″ out with just about every band in existence, and with blog’s becoming many people’s source for new music, it’s only natural then to combine the two. So here we are with the future, the UNHOLY GRAVE / MAGRUDERGRIND spilt blog post!
Both bands just came through the bay area and made a stop at 924 Gilman St in Berkeley, where they kicked everyone right in their god damned asses. I won’t waste your time or mine writing about it, just watch the videos and bear witness to some brutal grindcore.

Some might have called it a sausage fest, we called a MOSHage fest!!! This night the Hazmat in Oakland was overrun by maniacs and nerds as the Weapons Of Mosh Destruction tour rolled into town for the second time. This was also the final night of this tour. I’ll be uploading the sets from this show, which starts with Portland’s ENGORGED.
It might be to this sexy set of tunes from Rochester, NY’s finest, the mighty LETHARGY. Growing up in Rochester there wasn’t much to be proud of or excited about, especially in the music scene. I dug Zezozose, and really liked Big Hair. Then I saw Lethargy. Lethargy was one of those bands that just stood out. I didn’t even like metal when I first started going to see them, I was just extremely confused and excited about what they were doing. I’d go see them just about every time I could, and I’d try and find someone with a camera that would record them, or let me borrow their camera, and sometimes I’d bring tapes to stick in the soundboard. I was a nerd about it, but it gave me something to really appreciate about where I lived.
For those that don’t know, the band started around 1992/1993, had a few lineup changes / breakups / reunions over the next few years, and over that time released three demo tapes, a CD, and appeared on a couple compilations and a split 7″ EP. All that wound up on the out of print double CD discography which will hopefully be re-released. Erik Burke, the guitar player / vocalist, has since been in about three million bands, including Sulaco, Brutal Truth, Kalibas, and Nuclear Assault. Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher moved onto Today Is The Day, and then started Mastodon in Atlanta. Adam Routier went on to play in Low Ton.
I still plan on making a Lethargy DVD, time will tell to see if it ever happens, but I’m still pushing to do it. For now, jam them on their myspace page HERE
So yeah, big fuckin deal, just watch the god damn video. Slave One and Mungbeandemon played this show too.

Last week was a slow week for me and the camera, there were some raging shows but not the sort I would have been able to tape. The one show I did go to was the A.I. / WARCRY show. I had never heard A.I. before, but seeing as they made the journey all the way from Japan to play I decided to head out and check out the show.
Unfortunately, as it sometimes happens in the bay, there were several shows going on at the same night. There’s always several shows going on, but I mean several PUNK shows, so the turnout was quite underwhelming for this one. Bummer. Because of this, I didn’t tape all the opening bands. Gilman without many people inside is sorta sad looking, since it’s a pretty big room for bands to fill. Morpheme opened, so yet again I get to see this band again. And I’m still not sold. I missed Fix My Head though I was actually looking forward to seeing them again, and Against Empire were pretty killer for the two songs I caught. I came in late for these guys, though next time I got to make sure to see their whole set.
The few people that did come out finally left Pyramid Brewery across the street once A.I. started playing, and the night resembled a show almost. And A.I. just tore I thought. Shredding and energetic as the Japanese tend to do. Warcry were their tourmates, another band I had not heard of. This is a superstar PDX band with members of Tragedy, Hellshock, and Talk Is Poison doing the sort of hardcore punk you’d expect. And of course, totally killing it. By now these guys all know what they are doing, so they deliver.
It’s a shame about the multiple shows, but I’ll save that for another day I guess. It’s happening again this Friday with Unholy Grave playing Berkeley and Limp Wrist playing San Francisco. Bastards!
Oh well, fuck it, I’ll be at UNHOLY Motherfucking GRAVE!!!!
So here’s some videos of A.I. and WARCRY: A.I.
A few days ago SAVIOURS played a free show in San Francisco at The Knockout to field test the new songs from their upcoming album. They hit the studio this upcoming Sunday to begin tracking. I forgot who they are recording with, because a few beers and joints were had at the show and it seems to have fogged the memory.
They played 8 of the 9 new songs they have, and holy crap do they shred! They turned up the thrash for this new one! So I hope they don’t mind me posting a new song, it’s the shortest, thrashiest tune they played. I don’t even know the name of it, but it sure is god damned wicked. Actually, every song they played was great. I can’t wait to hear the record. Luckily I may not have to wait too long, since they are recording locally I’ll be popping in the studio with my camera to check on it’s progress, and I’ll be posting the videos to this site. So if you dig Saviours, stay tuned!
For now, jam this new song, and check out a demo version of another new song, called ACID HAND, on their myspace page HERE

I used to love the early Locust records, before they sold out and added “The” to their name. Pffffft.
I kid, but really, going to see THE Locust back in the late nineties, on acid, that was some good times. I never wore skinny pants or a fancy haircut, but that didn’t stop me from playing those first few records. Keyboards in grind seemed hilarious at the time, I had no idea it would be beaten into the ground like it was (and I don’t mean by The Locust, but the myriad of keyboard faux-grind bands that emerged in their wake). I guess the nineties were innocent like that. Anyway, my buddy Jason made me a tape with the 7″ and the split 10″ and told me that this is what Godzilla listens to as he stomps Tokyo. He had me at Godzilla.
So today’s upload is from the tail end of the pre-costume era of The Locust, I think the splits with Arab On Radar and Melt Banana were out around this point. This tour was in fact with Arab On Radar, and I can’t believe I haven’t uploaded their set from this show yet, I must be slipping! The show took place in Bakersfield, with the band smashed inside a boxing ring surrounded by a handful of kids. Maybe not the wildest Locust show, but a unique one for sure. Dave is on drums, Gabe is on guitar, this was a killer lineup of the band. So jam this video, and if you want to skip the youtube video, there is also a link to a small quicktime .mov version of the video that you can download and watch on your own. Check the bottom of this post.
