So here we are with the final installment of the 2010 UGZ Speed Trials, ending with the mighty PHOBIA. 20 years of grinding, and still at it, god damn. We get spoiled with them being from southern California, they play up here pretty often. Here’s another quality performance from these guys, and by now you know what to do, you know the routine. Smoke! Grind! DESTROY!!!!!

Another favorite of mine, hailing from Texas, motherfucking godamned KILL THE CLIENT made it out to the bay and tore it up at Gilman. A killer set from a killer band, Texas Takeover indeed! They just recently signed to Relapse, so hopefully we’ll see album #4 from this band sooner rather than later.
Crank the volume and smash some faces!!!!

There is nothing pretty about this set from P.L.F. at all. It’s fucking fast as shit, with songs being whipped off one after another with very little stopping for chitchat and catching breaths. This set will drop an anvil on your face from twenty stories up. It will rip your heart out and show it to you. Hell, your shoes might even fall off! This was the best set of the night in my opinion, and here it is in it’s entirety. You know what to do, lock your doors, turn up the volume real high, GET real high, and then fuck some fucking shit up.

WASTEOID kicks ass. Now a two piece, they still kick ass. I miss the guitars, and the crazy high pitched vocals, but fuck it, grind goes on!!! Well, here is today’s offering, Wasteoid’s set from this years Speed Trials. Light a joint, turn up the volume, and fucking GO!!!!!!!!

“You’re not Dystopia, fuck off!” That was my favorite heckle of the night, and it came during one of the few quiet and slower parts during THOUSANDSWILLDIE’s set. Don’t you dare give the audience slow at the Speed Trials, yo! This is the last show from these East Bay grinders, ending a three year run. Nothing last forever, especially in grind. Unless you’re Phobia I suppose. Well, this was a fitting end to the band, at the Speed Trials, at Gilman, and playing their best set ever (that I’d seen anyway, and I’ve seen a lot of TWD shows). Well, until the inevitable reunion, blast your face off to this performance!
And for those keeping score, PLF, Kill The Client, and Phobia were disqualified from “winning” the Speed Trials due to playing over the 15 minute time limit, but it turns out that Thousandswilldie, the 1st place winners this year, also played over the 15 minute time limit. Oops.

STAPLED SHUT are back!!! Pledging allegiance to the United States of Marijuana, they ventured into the bay area and the UGZ Speed Trials, and with the help of some overzealous youths they tore Gilman a new one. Here is their complete set, watch and be a witness to the carnage, the destruction, and some of that good ol’ grindcore.
Stay tuned for the rest of the Speed Trials sets, coming this week!

PROGERIA!!!!! I first got a dub of a demo when I visited LA in 1999, and it’s kick ass to know that 11 years later, these folks are still grinding away. Here is their set at the good ol’ Speed Trials, with a couple guests handling the vocals. GRIIIIIIND!!!!!!

Grind, grind, grind!!!!! Today we being you MASACRE from San Jose, California. They return to the Speed Trials again and delivered a blazing set that clocked in at just under 7 minutes! I’m guilty of not really knowing much about these guys other than having seen them live a few times, so I don’t have much to write here. So just go watch the video, and come back tomorrow for the next set!

Here’s some more of the good ol’ grindcore from the 2010 UGZ Speed Trials, today’s set comes from GONER, a two piece from Los Angeles. They play it short, fast, and loud, and belted their songs out from in front of the Gilman’s men’s room. Their was no excess in their set at all either, they ripped it up in under 8 minutes, and that was with an encore!. No time wasted chatting with the audience, or with drawn out slow parts.
Enjoy this upload, and stay tuned for next set tomorrow!
