LAUDANUM!!!! I have nothing witty to write about this video at all, bummer. It’s just too crushing and heavy. First off, if LAUDANUM is new to you, then head on over to the LAUDANUM MYSPACE page RIGHT NOW. The first two songs on their page are from their latest CD/2xLP “The Coronation”. This is the first release with the new Laudanum line-up, featuring Nathan from Graves At Sea on vocals. I never thought Laudanum had a problem with their vocals (formerly performed by drummer Becky), but Nathan’s voice does bring a different sound to the band that feels more appropriate, especially in the quieter, creepier parts.
A warning about this video: the lighting was too dark. Plus the Metro is a tougher place to record audio in due to the very large room, and we didn’t have our settings right, so everything sounds further back then it should. This was an experiment, and I’ll be trying something different next time I record there. However, at least it’s not blown out, over-driven and pitch black, so I’m still able to spark one up and enjoy this. They are a lot louder and heavier than they might come off in this video, that’s all. So get lit, crank the hell outta this, and jam. And expect to see a few more Laudanum videos here too. With the new album out, they are far more active then they ever were before, and I’m generally at everyone I can go to. Tomorrow they are playing with Saint Vitus, and in March they are playing with Shrinebuilder! Be there, fuckers!

My apologies for not posting for a few days there, Just had to deal with a few things that popped up recently, and had to get more footage ready for the next few weeks. Now that I’ve got a camera to use as a deck again (for playing the footage into the computer), I can catch up on everything that I recorded in 2009, which is perfect since it’s so rainy out that I haven’t been to a show in a month anyway.
Towards the end of 2009 CHRIST ON PARADE and EL DOPA played a set of shows, saying these would be the last of either band’s reunion gigs. I recorded the sets performed at 924 Gilman St, and so today’s post is a song from the Christ On Parade portion.
I’m still shooting and gathering footage for the 924 Gilman DVD in progress now, so if anyone has any videos, tapes, flyers, photos or stories to share, please contact me! dangovideo at hotmail dot com!!
See ya’ll tomorrow with another killer video!

Smash some nerd skull to Ghoul’s cover of the 80’s tune “Kids In America”. Run, nerds, RUUUUUNNNN!!!!!!!
Well, rock this one so hard you can’t sit for a week, we’ll be back tomorrow with something special for y’all.

Here is the second of three installments covering the October 30th 2009 show at the Oakland Metro, and this time we bring you CANNABIS CORPSE!!!! Throw on your bullet belt and skinny jeans, and roll a fat fucking hog of a joint, AND GET FUCKING RIPPED! If you haven’t checked them out before, then head over to the CANNABIS CORPSE MYSPACE page!!!
Stagedivers, beer bottles everywhere, a guy in a giant bud costume, and some kick ass goddamned music, this is the recipe for a great show! The band is coming back to the bay area, playing Thee Parkside on February 28th, though I’m not sure how they can top this set in such a small space, where’s the guy in the bud costume gonna fit? Voetsek and Stormcrow are on that bill as well, so no matter what it’ll be a night of good times and good tunes. This particular night was just especially wicked, being so close to Halloween and with the return of BRAINOIL (see yesterday’s post!). Thanks to Scotty for setting it up, I know he put a lot of work into making sure this show kicked ass. Be sure to stop by and support his label TANK CRIMES!!!! Thanks to the Oakland Metro as well!
Tomorrow will be the last video in this trio, so see you then. I gotta stop typing so I can finish this joint, you better be smoking too, fuckfaces!!!!! D.I.HIGH OR DIE!!!!!!!

I love BRAINOIL. In the early half if the last decade they played a lot around the bay area, and would play all sorts of shows, so it was common seeing them play. It was taken for granted by many I’m sure, just like any band you get to see dozens of times, until they stop playing. Towards the end of 2009 they got back together and played a trio of shows, and even announced plans to record another album. The clock was turned back a few years to 2001-2003, and I got to see Brainoil again three times in the space of two months!!! Fuck yeah!!!
Today’s post is taken from the first of these three shows, at the Oakland Metro with Ramming Speed, Population Reduction, Cannabis Corpse, and Ghoul. Thanks to Scotty at Tank Crimes for booking this show, and thanks to the staff at the Metro for hosting it! This show was fun in every way possible. Damn good times!
For those of you that might not be aware of Brainoil, go to the BRAINOIL WEBSITE and check out some tunes and more videos. Get baked first. More Brainoil videos will be coming soon, as well as videos from other bands on this show!! Stay tuned!!!

A great time to finally post this GRAYCEON video from last Halloween at El Rio!!! This was a special daytime show in the back patio area, I sure wish they’d have more shows there, as opposed to the tiny shoebox-sized room the bands normally play in.
If you are new to Grayceon, then let me direct you to the GRAYCEON MYSPACE page, and then you can buy their albums and recommend them to all your friends! Hooray!
Anyhoo, enjoy the Grayceon!

I just finished editing this set this morning! I’d been too busy to give it the attention it needed, and slowly chipped away at it, but this morning I rolled up my sleeves and got in there and finished this baby up! Here’s another song from this set, hope ya dig it! I’m keeping this post short because finishing this video fried me a bit, so see you tomorrow!

Seeing as 2010 has really yet to kick off for me yet as far as going to and recording shows are concerned, this is a great time to play catch up on things I didn’t get to upload from 2009. And since the cameras that I use to load footage onto the computer was unreliable and eventually died it’s left me with quite a pile of videos to sort through.
I saw many bands, but of the new ones I hadn’t heard before, THE FAMILY CURSE was one that I walked away really, really digging, and bought both LPs straight away afterwords. It’s noisy rock sorta like Made Out Of Babies, but with no drummer, which is something I usually frown upon. Their songs and their performance made up for the lack of real drummer however. This one I picked to upload is a perfect example of what the entire set was like. Two guys on alternating bass and guitar (and in this song both played guitar), while the singer flopped around the stage like a woman possessed by the devil. If you like bands like Made Out Of Babies, check this out!
Be sure to visit THE FAMILY CURSE MYSPACE page, where you can find information on purchasing their latest LP “White Medicine”.

I guess GIANT SQUID does have a better ring to it…
I’m not sure what to write about this band. I think they are fantastic. They put out one of my favorite albums in 2009, “The Ichthyologist” (which you can find on TRANSLATION LOSS). The song posted today is from their first album, “Metridium Field”. If you dig this at all, head on over to the GIANT SQUID MYSPACE page and check out a few more tunes, and order their albums.

EYEHATEGOD was one of my favorite bands from the 90’s. You should already be familiar with the band, so I shouldn’t have to give you any backstory. However, just in case you aren’t, get your ass over to the EYEHATEGOD MYSPACE page and familiarize yourself with them RIGHT NOW!!!
It’s been nearly 10 years since they’ve visited the bay area as a full band, before I moved out here, and the last time I saw them was in 1998, so this show was pretty exciting to me. This show didn’t let down at all. Acephalix, Brainoil, & Stormcrow were all on the bill, and videos of their sets will be uploaded eventually, but this was Eyehategod’s show through and through. The band played a 75 minute set, they sounded massive, and the crowd reaction was violent, but without getting out of control.
Cheers to EYEHATEGOD for coming out west again, to WHORE FOR SATAN for booking the show, and to the staff at the DNA LOUNGE for allowing it to go on under their roof.
We’ll be back next week with more badass videos, see you then!
