Here’s another live set from STORMCROW, this time from a few years ago at The Elbo Room in San Francisco. This was with Kalas, Ludicra, Exhumed, and another band that I can’t think of right now. Probably as part of one of those Three Days Of Darkness things, too.

GIANT SQUID CAUGHT IN OAKLAND

GIANT SQUID just released their 2nd album (in a very limited first pressing of a thousand copies, go get that fucker NOW), and took to the road with the LA band 16. This video is a partial performance from their stop in Oakland. I was having some camera troubles, and some troubles with my audio recorder, so all I have is the 2nd half of the set, but they played so wicked that I’m uploading it regardless. Not only did they rock, they did it while being sick. Fuck that, I’ve been sick all week, and I can barely get up to blog, fuck getting in a van to play in front of you hosers!

Seriously though, go to their myspace page and buy their new album, The Ichthyologist. It’s available right now in a first pressing done by the band themselves in a limited quantity of a thousand copies. There are a couple tunes from it on their myspace, and they play a few songs from it in this video. Do it!!!!

Sorry I’ve not uploaded much this week, I got hit with the sickness. But I’m bouncing back! So here we go…

I’ve uploaded a portion of this set before, but here’s the whole fucking thing, with a downloadable Quicktime movie as well! Fresh! So jam yer shit to BLACK COBRA, a killer two piece that’s been around a few years and a few cities. They migrated to the Bay area, which is awesome for me, as I’ve been able to catch them a bunch of times now.

THE REAL BOSS

Fuck having Bruce Springsteen on the Superbowl halftime show, those motherfuckers need to have Eric Fucking Wood tearing it up for the millions of morons, blow their god damned minds. Maybe then I might have watched the Superbowl, too.

Well, watching the Superbowl sucks, so I spent that afternoon at the Gilman getting MY god damned mind blown by Mr Eric Wood. Now you can sit at your computer and get your mind blown as well, just watch the video below.

Oh, and if you don’t know who Eric Wood is, you fail. He was one of the members of the band Man Is The Bastard, a band I shouldn’t even have to explain. If you don’t know who Man Is The Bastard is/was, you need to take a break and do a little hunting online and either buy or download their CDs and records. They were awesome, weird, and fast. Bastard Noise was an off shoot of Man Is The Bastard, all the noise releases were done under this name, and Bastard Noise actually continued even after MITB broke up.

So now Eric Wood has recruited Danny Walker (Intronaut) on drums, and picked up the bass again, and given Bastard Noise a whole new sound, one that more closely resembles the Man Is The Bastard / Neandrathal material.

So there, that’s it, enough writing and all that shit, LET’S FUCKING GO!!!

RAGIN RHYGIN

Here’s a video from a new local punk band called RHYGIN HC, playing their first show. In the band is Bill Jackson (Instant Asshole) on bass & vocals, Scotty the super-friendly skin on drums, and Mikey P from Crucial Cause on guitar and vocals.

I didn’ t shoot the show, hell, I missed it entirely due to being at another show, so thanks to Carlos Antagony for recording it, and coming over and letting me put the tape online. If you are into Oakland punk, then check this out!

CAVE THE FUCK IN

There was a time when Cave In was a mighty band. Every hardcore kid I knew had “Until Your Heart Stops” in the summer of 1998. I actually didn’t like it, I preferred the material that made up the “Beyond The Hypothermia” CD, but thought “UYHS” to be just a bit too weird and silly. I kept the CD though and by summer of 1999 I was hooked on it, and the “Creative Eclipses” EP too. Yay, Cave In.

So today’s upload is a pretty decent video of the band towards the end of their “hardcore” era. The set is a few tunes off “Until Your Heart Stops”, plus “Luminance” from the EP and an unreleased song called “Inflatable Dream”. Thanks to whoever taped this, and traded it to me back in 2000. I’ve got a few other Cave In shows I’ll add here eventually, but if anyone has any Cave In and is interested in a trade, let me know! Especially if it’s Cave In from 1998 or earlier. I have three Cave In shows from 1998 (one with the other vocalist!) that have terrible glitches the entire way through, I’d love to have copies I can actually watch.

I’ve also got a link at the bottom to a Quicktime movie version of the video, download while you can, these will be only up for a limited time, while my bandwidth can handle it.
