This is one of my favorite videos I own, for a bunch of reasons.  DYSTOPIA were one of my favorite bands in the 90′s, and when Corin and I decided to move to the bay area, I was super excited to finally be able to see them live, and I planned on never missing a show.  Well, a few weeks before we moved, Dystopia went on a European tour with Corrupted, came home, and went on hiatus.  Motherfucker!!!  Imagine my excitement then when I found out that Dystopia was coming off hiatus for a string of shows and to record their final album, and that they’d be playing at 924 Gilman Street on the two year anniversary of us moving to Oakland!  The first two years here were the toughest, getting used to a huge scene with tons of history, crazy living expenses, making new friends and adjusting to not seeing my old friends, and at this point I was feeling settled, feeling like the bay area was home finally.  There was no better way to drive home this feeling then getting to finally see Dystopia, and they were playing with my two favorite local bands at the time, Ludicra and Brainoil.  So yeah, this was a great night, and so this video is real personal to me.  I’m stoked to share it in it’s entirety.  This was a great set, tons of killer tunes were played, including a couple new ones.  One of the new songs would later get a major reworking, so what made it to the album is vastly different than what they played this night.  This was a very sold out show, with a very intense audience packed nuts to butts.  The sound is pretty decent too, especially considering I recorded it off to the side of the stage, behind the PA.  So turn this up, free the weed, and hail the mighty Dystopia!
