Here’s a really rad video of a rad band, INTRONAUT performing at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California. This was from the tour with Mastodon, the last tour Intronaut would go on for their second album, Prehistoricisms. This is a great venue for bands like this, the more progressive and post metal sort, especially ones that take care in how they sound live. Pretty much the ideal venue for seeing bands like Isis and Neurosis. The performance seems flawless to me, but if they fuck up somewhere please point it out so I can needle them about it endlessly. This has the added bonus of soundboard audio, and it actually came out ok. The bass seems a little low in the board mix, but otherwise this sounds chunky and heavy and pretty clear. There’s a weird volume drop at the beginning of “Whittler”, so adjust your volume accordingly. These are some older jams, some of which they still play live, but others that probably won’t be heard again. After this two month tour, they settled down to write their follow up, Valley Of Smoke, and at the time of this post being written, they are writing their fourth album. Get weeded up and crank this fucker!
