I’m writing this post on the same day as a BASTARD NOISE show in town that I will be missing due to my current medical condition. I feel like a total false, as I love seeing Eric do his thing, but life goes on. I’ve seen BN several times now, and I will see them again. At least if the shows are going to be missed, we can all still look back at these videos I shot and enjoy that at least. Bastard Noise is an ever changing skull crushing machine spearheaded by my favorite bass shredding madman, Eric Wood. Because BN is always evolving, I like keeping up with their latest output, but it’s still fun to look back at where they were even just a few years ago. It’s a trip to see how much has changed (for the better I believe), but the lineup and songs in this video are still totally rad, and this was a super fun night. Bastard Noise had switched from being a pure noise band to having bass and drum songs in 2008, and in early 2009 came up to play a severely under-advertised show at 924 Gilman Street, where they played to a very, very small crowd. This show here marked their second trip to the bay, this time at Burnt Ramen in Richmond. The turnout was much better, there was far more excitement leading up to this show this time around. Bastard Noise played a monster set, and I was perched up with my camera catching it all. This is the lineup that recorded A Culture Of Monsters, before Aimee was in the band. This wasn’t that long ago, just a few years, but it feels weird seeing footage without Aimee in the band, and it makes this feel downright ancient. So enjoy this “ancient” video. Turn the volume all the way up, get yourself good and baked, and then fucking DESTROY!
