Most people know Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher as members of the band Mastodon, but a good chunk of folks first caught wind of these guys as the rhythm section of TODAY IS THE DAY. Brann and Bill, both in the Rochester NY band Lethargy, joined up with Steve Austin in the summer of 1998 and recorded the album In The Eyes Of God. This brought Brann and Bill out on their first tours, around the US and Europe, and these two guys got a lot of attention right off the bat. This lineup of Today Is The Day didn’t last very long, by the following year the lineup had split up. Brann and Bill moved to Atlanta and began Mastodon, and Steve recruited new members and continued on.
This is some great footage my buddy Mike shot from a show in Brann and Bill’s hometown (my hometown, too), Rochester, NY, at the Bug Jar. Watch it loud and on weed.
