Writing about A.F.I. is difficult for me because I was never into this band. However, had I grown up out here in the bay area, I probably would have been a fan at some point. This band is pretty damned big now, but they are another one that got their start playing small shows at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley. By the time they played this show however, they seemed to have a decent following. As you can hear in the introduction to the song, this was the record release for the compilation This Is Berkeley, Not West Bay, a reference to the classic 1982 punk compilation, This Is Boston, Not L.A. This Is Berkeley, Not West Bay featured songs by Dead & Gone, Black Fork, Screw 32, and the song in this video, “Love Is A Many Splendored Thing”. If you like old A.F.I., go nuts, and play it LOUD!
